nom d’un philosophe et poète indien (Muhammad Iqbal, 1877-1938) auteur du livre  La reconstruction de la pensée religieuse en islam.

Iqbal en langue arabe a les significations d’« approche», d’« avance », d’« avènement », d’« intérêt pour », de « capacité de répondre à », d’« ouverture à », d’ « acceptation », et  ce nom est étymologiquement apparenté à des mots qui signifient la rencontre (muqabala), l’accueil (istiqbal), le futur (mustaqbal), ou encore la direction de la prière (qibla) et la racine sémitique du mot est la même que celle du mot hébreu de kabbale.

The word is etymologically related to words that mean meeting (muqabala), reception (istiqbal),  future (mustaqbal), direction for prayer (qibla) and the Semitic root is similar to the root of the Hebraic word Qabbalah.

أقبلَ الشَّخصُ : جاء ، قدِمَ وأتى أقبل العمّالُ من الريف

أقبل عليه بوجهه : توجّه نحوَه

أَقْبَلَ النَّهارُ : لاَحَ في الأُفُقِ أقْبَلَ اللَّيْلُ
